Salem, Massachusetts is one of those coastal towns on the north shore of Boston that has lots of character. I’ve shot many films in Salem since moving here. It’s an historical and colorful place with the tales of the Salem witches and the Mardi Gras atmosphere of Halloween (see my short: Halloween Carnival vimeo.com/16388984)
But when all the tourists have left and summer arrives, locals flock to The Willows, a honky tonk picnic area with beautiful aging willow trees, arcades, a long pier for fishing, a small beach and gorgeous sunsets over Beverly Harbor.
I was lucky enough to borrow a Canon C300 from Dan Berube of BOSCPUG so I could really familiarize myself with it in order to use it to shoot the Boston premiere of Zacuto USA’s Revenge of the Great Camera Shootout 2012 last week. It was my 3rd time with the camera. The first time I only had it briefly to shoot HUSTLE, a BOSCPUG collaboration we did a few months ago using Kessler Crane gear special thanks to Mike Sutton (vimeo.com/37154329). And one more brief collaboration with Paul Antico and Michael Murie on a short called The Cost: vimeo.com/37151341
So thanks to Dan and Canon for putting the C300 in my hands for a few days. Enjoy the film.
